A Conversation with CC Minton: Nationally-Recognized Leader, Community Advocate and Herbalife Member

At Herbalife, we are constantly inspired by the passion of Herbalife members and their dedication to improving their own nutrition and the nutrition of their friends and family. Long-time Herbalife member CC Minton, award-winning author, mother, volunteer and lifestyle coach, is a shining example of someone who truly exemplifies the Herbalife mission to strengthen the communities in which we live and work. In addition to her work with local students and businesses, she is a Wellness Council member in her local school district, an “Advocate of the Month” with The President’s Challenge and a partner with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to promote the importance of an active lifestyle.

We are proud to announce that CC is one of only 44 individuals in the nation to be selected for the 2014 President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (PCFSN) Community Leadership Award in recognition of her commitment to supporting health and wellness initiatives.  We can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor.

What role has Herbalife played in your life and your views on healthy living?

I love to eat, I love to cook and I love food – I was a foodie before the term was even invented!  So I’ve always been wary of diets that restrict food. But Herbalife is different – it’s a nutritional program, not a diet, and a supplement to a healthy eating regimen. After I had had my two sons, years ago, the products helped get me back in shape and gave me so much energy, and I felt amazing.

After years of being a stay-at-home mom, I wanted to reach out and share my experience with others.

Herbalife gave me the know-how and understanding on how to connect with the broader community to promote healthy eating, staying positive and serving the community. It was a natural extension of what we already do as Herbalife members. The rest is history!

Herbalife has definitely taken me on a journey. I’m just as excited about the company today as I was the first day I came into the business in 1999.


Can you tell us more about what motivates your work in your community?

I’ve always loved helping others. It’s the essence of who I am and it’s just always come naturally to me.  In April, I again became an Advocate partner to the President’s Challenge to introduce an active lifestyle program with the broader community. I’m also a community partner with the USDA to educate children on proper nutrition. As part of this partnership, I’ve written a children’s book, Daddy’s Greek Potato Pie, which introduces fiber, protein, healthy fats, fruits and vegetables for kids. But just as importantly, it shares the meaningful experience of cooking together with your family. The book was inspired by my own family. I love to cook, but I can’t deny that my kids consider my husband to be the great cook in our house – which is fine by me; I don’t mind a break every now and then!


What are your top tips for living a healthy life?

Stay active. I ran track and played soccer in school and I used to be a group fitness instructor, but you don’t have to join a gym. It’s really just about moving, even if you start out only walking.

Food is a way to connect with others, maybe the most important way we have. Today, people think that texting is the same as having a conversation. But that’s not meaningful. Food, music – it’s these things that bring us all together, no matter our cultural differences.


What are your favorite Herbalife products?

 My favorites are Formula 1 (the French Vanilla flavor), the Women’s Choice vitamin supplements and the tea, which I like to combine with a Liftoff. I appreciate the versatility of the products and the range of choices, which has become important to me over the years as my health needs have changed.
