How Herbalife Supports Communities During the Holidays
Helping communities around the world is a cornerstone of Herbalife values. Following are just some of the ways Independent Herbalife Members and company employees give back to those in need.
Supporting the Union Rescue Mission
Union Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter located on Los Angeles’ Skid Row, serves more than 700,000 meals to homeless men, women and children, with Herbalife employees doing their part by volunteering to help prepare and serve nutritious protein shakes for breakfast.
During the holidays, volunteers also hand out special items to families, such as soccer balls, shirts and windbreaker jackets. “Most importantly, we provide an ear, a smile and conversation to people who are down on their luck,” says Cecil Strickland, Herbalife director of events operations, who has volunteered at the Mission with his daughter.
Union Rescue Mission CEO Andy Bales says Herbalife volunteers are vital. “They are faithful, energetic and very giving,” he says. The shelter can house 810 people and serve 2,000 meals on an average day, and those numbers often skyrocket during holidays. “We are very thankful for the passionate and caring friends from Herbalife,” Bales said. In 2013, the mission presented its Humanitarian of the Year award to Diahanna Brown, Herbalife vice president of worldwide events and promotions.

A Place Called Home Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
A Place Called Home (APCH) is part of Herbalife Family Foundation’s Casa Herbalife program. The APCH Annual Thanksgiving Dinner is held at the community center in South Los Angeles; an event where over 1,000 people in need receive a full turkey dinner with all of the trimmings. Herbalife volunteers serve the event in a variety of capacities, including managing the line, greeting patrons, prepping and serving food, as well as cleaning up during and after the event.
This year, Herbalife will also be giving 500 grocery bags filled with frozen turkeys and canned goods so families can create a Thanksgiving meal at home. APCH is a safe haven in South Central Los Angeles where underserved youth are empowered to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts, and well-being; and are inspired to make a meaningful difference in their community and the world.

Children’s Month Campaign in Brazil
Herbalife Brazil has launched a Children’s Month Campaign in which all employees are asked to donate new and used toys for Casa Herbalife children in Brazil. Many employees personally deliver toys to the children and bring joy to their day.
Gift-giving to Children in Mexico
Each year, Herbalife Members and employees in Mexico visit the Casa Herbalife children and bring candles and gifts. It’s always greatly satisfying to see the faces of children in need light up when they spend time with caring volunteers and receive their gifts.
