Dr. Carolina Pimentel holds MD and PhD degrees in Nutrition Science from the University of Sal Paulo and is our DAB member from Brazil.

 
How long have you been working with Herbalife Nutrition?

I have been working for the Company since January 2015.

 

What is your role with the Company?

I am responsible for conducting lectures at training events, and writing articles related to health, good nutrition and the benefits of adopting a healthy diet and active lifestyle for the product catalog. I also create video content (Fique Bem HLF) with our NAB, Dr. Nataniel Viuniski. I participate in scientific meetings and conferences sponsored by Herbalife Nutrition, and I worked with the team in Brazil to develop the first “Herbalife Nutrition Award”, which was handed out in 2017 to an undergraduate nutrition student. The winner and his professor also received a trip to Los Angeles to meet Herbalife Nutrition’s Health and Nutrition team.

 

Why did you choose nutrition as a career?

Since I was a child I always loved to go to the supermarket, choose the foods and wonder what I could make with these ingredients to create an amazing meal. I just love to cook and I have always been interested in how nutrients work in our body.

 

What is the best part of your job?

Traveling and having the opportunity to meet new people with different backgrounds.

Everyone, even nutritionists, has a ‘guilty pleasure’ when it comes to food.  What’s yours?

Salted dark chocolate! But I feel pleasure without guilt at the same time, because it is healthy in moderation.

 
If you had just one piece of nutrition advice to give to someone, what would it be?

It would be two: anything is all right in moderation and strive to make physical activity part of your everyday routine.

 

What are some of the latest diet and nutrition trends in your country?

Intermittent fasting.

 

If you weren’t a Dietitian/Nutritionist, what would you be?

An astronaut. I was very good in physics in school.

 

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

That I am yogi.

 

Can you please provide a recipe or describe a healthy meal that represents your country/region? 

This is a complete lunch meal and very traditional in Brazil.

½ cup cooked rice

½ cup black beans

150g grilled lean beef

1 cup of arugula

½ cup grated carrot

 

Please provide your personal favorite Formula 1 shake recipe.

Paçoca is my favorite flavor of Formula 1. It is a typical Brazilian sweet made with peanuts. Here is my favorite recipe:

1 tablespoon of Herbalife Nutrition Personalized Protein Powder

2 1/2 tablespoons of Herbalife Nutrition Formula 1 Shake Mix, Paçoca flavor

250 ml of semi-skimmed milk

1/2 papaya cut into cubes

Mix all the ingredients in the blender and then serve.
