We continue our Dietetic Advisory Board (DAB) Q&A series with Chandra Lin, a dietitian with a Master’s degree in Nutritional Science. Based in Taiwan, Chandra joined Herbalife Nutrition in 2008. Learn more about Chandra and her work with our athletes and distributors below:
What is your role with Herbalife Nutrition?
I serve as marketing supervisor and senior dietitian. My team provides product and nutrition training and events for our members as well as nutrition consultation to our sponsored athletes and teams.
Why did you choose nutrition as a career?
What most people don’t know is that I’m a registered nurse. In my previous job, I worked for a pharmaceutical company and noticed that most patients didn’t know the importance of nutrition. That was the catalyst for me to go back to school to earn my Master’s in nutritional science. I think nutrition knowledge is essential for a healthy life.
What is the best part of your job?
I have the chance to get to know our distributors and athletes while providing them with information, recipes, tips, and recommendations to help them achieve their goals with good nutrition.
Everyone, even dietitians, has a “guilty pleasure” when it comes to food. What’s yours?
My guilty pleasure is potato chips. If I am craving them, I will eat them – but I’m mindful of how much I eat. It’s okay to enjoy your favorite snack – just keep it in moderation.
If you had just one piece of nutrition advice to give to someone, what would it be?
Breakfast is the most important meal for a day. Please do not skip it.
What are some of the latest diet and nutrition trends in Taiwan?
Taiwan does not really have any trendy diets or diet fads (like gluten-free or Paleo diets), but there is a lot of interest in “organic” foods, and many believe they are better than any foods that are sold in the market, even though they are more expensive.
If you weren’t a dietitian, what would you be?
Once I am retired, I will follow my favorite hobbies – photography and crafts.
